Prof. Marek Jarema

    Since 2006, he has been the National Consultant in Psychiatry for the Ministry of Health, psychiatrist and neurologist. He is an expert in diagnosis, pharmacotherapy and mental disorders. Since 1993, he has also been the director of he III Psychiatric Clinic of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw. He has completed internships abroad in countries including Austria, USA, Spain and Italy. He also is the promoter of several doctoral proceedings. He is a member of the Polish Psychiatry Association and has served as Secretary and Treasurer of the General Board of the PTP. He is a member of the programing council of several academic journals. He also has many years’ experience as an academic teacher and an expert witness in psychiatry. He is the author of over 300 academic publications. He is the editor of the Polish treatment standards publication. He is co-editor of a psychiatry textbook for medical students.

    He is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the Pomorski Academy of Medicine in Szczecin. He worked as a psychiatrist in the PAM Psychiatry Clinic. In 1974, he obtained his doctorate in Medical Studies and in 1986, the title of habilitated doctorate. In 1994, he was personally awarded the academic title of professor by the President of Poland. To begin with, he was an assistant and then a senior assistant and senior lecturer at the Clinic of Psychiatry at the Pomorski Academy of Medicine in Szczecin, and later was the director of the Independent Laboratory of the Psychopathological Institute of Neurology PAM. Since 1993, he has been the director of the III Psychiatric Clinic of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw.
